Cognitive Therapies
Cognitive remediation, or therapy, focuses on rehabilitating or training of a subset of cognitive skills, called executive functions, which are impaired by an accident or condition (e.g., ADHD). In an accident, the frontal lobe, the area of the brain responsible for executive functions (e.g., attention, memory, problem-solving, organization, time-management, emotional regulation) is injured. In ADHD, the frontal lobe is underdeveloped. In either case, a practical treatment program for executive functions is recommended.
